I had actually saw this coming, back in December of 2010 when things first broke. While what I heard was just a rumor, it seemed to have legs.

I wish Fickell well in his first season and think that the players that the coach lost his career for work at a carwash next year instead of the NFL.

Jim Tressel Leaving Ohio State?

I woke up this morning to a RUMOR that Jim was going to leave Ohio State after the 2011 Sugar Bowl. The sources said that it stems from other hidden yet-to-be-released details having to do with the player suspensions indicating a lack of institutional control, something similar to or worse than USC.

I like Jim Tressel, while I don’t agree with his Offensive philosophy, and my enthusiasm for Ohio State has dampened a lot since his arrival, I’d be much happier with a new Offensive Line coach than a new Head Coach.

OSU Offense vs. Oregon Defense

Ohio State does not have a good offense. They have consistently ranked at the bottom of the national scene for the past 3-4 years. That being said they should at least be able to score 17 points on Oregon. Advantage Oregon.

OSU Defense vs. Oregon Offense

Ohio State has always had a good defense; over the past few years the D-Line has not been able to contain a faster more imaginative offensive game plan. This year they should be able to get more pressure and force an interception or two. Advantage OSU.

Other

Ohio State’s been off for a long time, if they don’t stop Oregon early, it could get out of hand. Ohio State needs to keep Oregon to 14 points by half-time.

Prediction #1 – Jim Tressel Gets Imaginative

To everyone’s surprise, it’s not the same Ohio State Team. OSU is able to score throughout the game and their defense is able to hold Oregon to under 24 points. Ohio State wins, 31-27.

Prediction #2 – Same OSU Bowl Outcome

OSU will score first. But be too slow to react to a great game plan. The offense will just putter and the game will be out of hand by half-time. Oregon wins, 45-13.

The Season Begins – Just Not On TV

Well, Ohio State Football is starting another season. I am very excited about this team, not because they are as good as last years, but because I don't know what to expect.

The only downside to this of course is that the Big10 Network is trying a money grab with Fox Sports a.k.a. News Corp. You see Fox owns 49% of the Big10 Network. They also own DirectTV so they (News Corp.) win either way. If they succeed you will end up with a monopoly of college sports very similar to the BCS (Bowl Championship Series). Can you imagine having all college and pro sports pay-per-view?

As much as I love capitalism, there's something about this that does not feel right.

One and Done

I knew Greg would leave the Buckeyes this year, but I did not think Conely or Cook would leave. I thought Conely was the team MVP in the tourney with Greg in foul trouble and all but going to the NBA? That sucks, I will never watch them play another game (unless Cleveland makes it to the finals again and they are either playing for Cleveland or the other team).

Only 74 more days until football!!!

Basketball, OSU vs. Florida

Well, here are are again. We find ourselves facing Florida, the defending national champion with all starters returning and referee's anxious to call a foul on Greg Oden…

I will not predict the winner of the game, but I will predict the following:

Noah will cry like a baby and then cuss when he does not get his way.
Noah will beat his chest like a sissy.
Florida will be uncanny at hitting 3 point shots.
Oden will get called for the dumbest foul yet in the tourney and be sitting with 2 fouls 10 minutes into the first half.
Connelly will somehow keep the game close by making great decisions and the team will remain close and within striking distance because of ferocious DEFENSE.
Ohio State will have a chance to win the game with 5 minutes left in the game.
One of the points above will be "game changing" in the last 5 minutes and that will decide the game…

p.s. Michigan still sucks!

Postmortem

The lack of the 3 point shot, and the lack of 3 point defense. I was right… Again…

Value City Arena

I watched Ohio State this week-end play basketball and I must say, the Value City Arena is perhaps the worst arena in College Basketball. Ohio State puts the students in the top bleachers where they can't be heard, and all the people in the lower bowl are cooperate golf clappers.

No Fun Being a Buckeye…

Well, we got beat-up in football, and we keep loosing to good teams in basketball… A few observations:

Football – 53-days=rust, no Ginn, poor offensive line play, too many tearful speeches by the QB, where was the hunger?

Basketball – Oden & team not in sync, too many turn-overs, poor shot selection, poor defense.

p.s. FOX sucks at college football…

So, Michigan lost, and both Wisconsin and Penn State won. Hmmm…. I am making no predictions for anymore games.
